- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons [30 g] butter
- 1 cup [250 mL] Seven-Up
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] ketchup
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] dry mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] chili powder
- 4 cloves
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
- 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] pepper

- Melt chopped onion into melted butter until tender.
- Stir in Seven-Up, ketchup, dry mustard, chili powder, cloves, salt and pepper; mix well.
- Bring to a boil; then lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove cloves.
- To serve, pour sauce over chicken pieces or serve into a sauce boat.
