Barbecue Sauce with Seven-Up

Comments: This sauce is perfect to serve along with roasted chicken and fries or rice.

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons [30 g] butter
  • 1 cup [250 mL] Seven-Up
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] chili powder
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] pepper
  • Melt chopped onion into melted butter until tender.
  • Stir in Seven-Up, ketchup, dry mustard, chili powder, cloves, salt and pepper; mix well.
  • Bring to a boil; then lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Remove cloves.
  • To serve, pour sauce over chicken pieces or serve into a sauce boat.
