Creamy White Sauce for Chicken Pies

It is also excellent into flaky pastry shells, .....
Simply mix in cooked chicken cubes, homemade or canned mixed vegetables and it will be ready to fill a pie shell or flaky pastry shells.
IngredientsPreparation
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] margarine or cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup [250 mL] milk
  • 2 chicken broth cubes
  • 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] hot boiling water
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
  • Heat margarine or cooking oil; mix in flour.
  • Slowly pour in milk, stirring.
  • Dissolve chicken broth cubes into boiling water.
  • Pour into milk mixture.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
