Chinese Sweet and Sour Sauce
Comments: Excellent served along with pork, chicken or beef.
Servings: Approximately 1 cup [250 mL]
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] pineapple juice
  • 3 tablespoons [45 mL] oil
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] black pepper
  • A little cornstarch
  • Cold water
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] vinegar
  • Bring together pineapple juice, oil, brown sugar, soy sauce and black pepper to a boil.
  • Meanwhile, dissolve a little cornstarch into a little cold water.
  • Stir into boiling mixture until thickened.
  • Stir in vinegar, and serve.
