- 2 stale or toasted slices of bread
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] chopped onion
- 1 tablespoon [15 g] butter
- 2 cups [500 mL] boiling water
- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Finely dice bread slices.
- Brown chopped onion into melted butter, then mix in bread dices; salt and pepper.
- Pour in boiling water; simmer for 5 minutes.
- Serve immediately.
