- 2 cups [500 mL] sugar
- 1 cup [250 mL] lukewarm water
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] cream of tartar
- Few drops mint or cinnamon oil, to taste
- Food coloring [your choice]

- Into a covered saucepan, bring together sugar and water to a boil.
- Cover and boil for a few minutes, to melt sugar.
- Uncover; sprinkle with cream of tartar.
- Boil until a large drop shapes into a hard ball when dropped into cold water.
- Remove from heat; stir mint or cinnamon oil and food coloring.
- Spread onto an oiled baking sheet, cool and break into pieces or, using a spoon, drop small mounds of mixture onto an oiled baking sheet.
