Crystal Candies

IngredientsPreparation
  • 2 cups [500 mL] sugar
  • 1 cup [250 mL] lukewarm water
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] cream of tartar
  • Few drops mint or cinnamon oil, to taste
  • Food coloring [your choice]
  • Into a covered saucepan, bring together sugar and water to a boil.
  • Cover and boil for a few minutes, to melt sugar.
  • Uncover; sprinkle with cream of tartar.
  • Boil until a large drop shapes into a hard ball when dropped into cold water.
  • Remove from heat; stir mint or cinnamon oil and food coloring.
  • Spread onto an oiled baking sheet, cool and break into pieces or, using a spoon, drop small mounds of mixture onto an oiled baking sheet.
