Dough
- 1 cup [250 mL] flour
- 1 cup [250 mL] oatmeal
- 1 cup [250 mL] brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ]5 mL] baking soda
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] butter
Filling
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] corn syrup
- 1/3 cup [80 mL] brown sugar
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] butter
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] heavy cream or evaporated milk
- 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] sliced almonds
- 1 1/2 teaspoons [7.5 mL] vanilla

Dough
- Crumble together flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, baking soda and butter.
- Firmly press into a 14-cup [3.5-L] pan.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F [180°C] oven, for approximately 10 minutes.
Filling
- In a medium-sized casserole, mix together corn syrup, brown sugar, butter and cream or evaporated milk.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring, until boiling.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in almond slices and vanilla.
- Even pour over crust.
- Bake in a preheated 350°F [180°C] oven, for 15 to 20 minutes, until golden.
- Cool on rack.
- Cut into triangles, bars or squares.
- Keep refrigerated.
