- 1 3/4 cups [350 g] sugar
- 1/4 cup [60 g] butter
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] evaporated milk
- 2 cups [500 mL] miniature marshmallows
- 1 cup [250 mL] chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] chopped nuts [optional]

- Mix together sugar, butter and evaporated milk into a casserole.
- Cook mixture over medium heat stirring until boiling.
- Lower heat to low and leave mixture to heat for approximately 5 minutes more, until sugar is completely dissolved.
- Remove from heat and immediately stir in miniature marshmallows, chocolate chips, vanilla and, if desired, chopped nuts, working as fast as possible.
- Pour into a lightly greased 8-inch [20-cm] square pan.
- Refrigerate fudge for 45 minutes, before cutting into squares.
