Creamy Broccoli

  • 1 medium-size broccoli [approximately 1 1/4-pound / 570-g]
  • 1 1/4 cups [375 mL] ultra cream
  • Peel broccoli stalk, up to flowerets.
  • Cut broccoli stalk into 2-inch [5-cm] chunks.
  • Half stalk pieces lengthwise; transfer broccoli stalk pieces and flowerets into a large casserole with a lid or use aluminum foil.
  • Pour cream over broccoli.
  • Cover; bring to a boil, over medium heat.
  • Simmer until broccoli is almost tender, 3 to 4 minutes.
  • With a slotted spoon, remove broccoli pieces and flowerets from casserole; arrange onto a heated serving plate.
  • Keep warm.
  • Boil cream mixture for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring, until reduced.
  • Pour over broccoli flowerets and stalk pieces.
  • Serve immediately.
