- A little butter or margarine
- 6 or more large onions, cut into large pieces
- 1 or 2 pounds [454 g to 1 kg] salt pork [desalted into boiling water], diced
- 5 pounds [2.27 kg] small wax beans

- Melt butter or margarine; brown onion pieces.
- Add salt pork dices and wax beans.
- Pour in enough water to almost cover completely all ingredients.
- Cover casserole; simmer, over low heat, for approximately 5 to 6 hours.
- Wax beans will get browned and wrinkled, but so, so good....
