- 12 medium-size tomatoes
- 2 cups [500 mL] cottage cheese
- 1/2 green pepper, seeded and finely chopped
- 2 green onions, finely minced
- 1 garlic clove, finely minced
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] freshly chopped basil
or 1 tablespoon [15 mL] dried
- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Half tomatoes; delicately spoon out pulp.
- Turn tomato shells upside-down onto a plate; leave to drain while preparing stuffing.
- Well mix togther cottage cheese, chopped green pepper, minced green onions, minced garlic and basil.
- Salt and pepper.
- Stuff tomato shells with mixture.
