Buttered String Beans

  • Boiling water
  • 2 pounds [1 kg] string beans
  • 2 tablespoons [30 g] butter or margarine
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] pepper
  • Into a 12-inch [30-cm] skillet, over high heat into 1 inch [2.5 cm] boiling water, bring string beans to a boil.
  • Lower heat to low, cover and leave to simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender-crisp; drain.
  • Add butter or margarine, salt and pepper.
  • Toss until well coated before serving.
