- 1 pound [454 g] peeled carrots, into 1/2-inch [1.3-cm] thick slices
- 1 cup [250 mL] salted boiling water
- 2 tablespoons [30 g] butter
- 1 tablespoon [15 mL] brown sugar
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper

- Into a saucepan, boil carrot slices into salted boiling water until soft yet still a little crunchy.
- Well drain carrot slices; set aside.
- Melt butter into saucepan.
- Mix in brown sugar, until completely melted.
- Then mix in reserved carrot slices.
- Salt lightly and generously sprinkle carrot slices with freshly ground black pepper.
- Reheat, and serve.
