IngredientsPreparation
  • 12 cups [3 L] milk
  • 2 1/4 cups [560 ml] sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon [6 ml] salt
  • 25 to 30 tablespoons [375 to 450 ml] cornstarch
  • 15 tablespoons [225 ml] cold milk
  • Vanilla, to taste
  • Fruits, to decorate [optional]
  • Heat together milk, sugar and salt.
  • Mix cornstarch in cold milk.
  • Add to heated milk.
  • Transfer to a double-boiler.
  • Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stiring constantly, until thickened.
  • Take away from heat.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Pour into individual small bowls; if desired, decorate with fruits.
  • Mixture thickens as it cools.
