  • 12 cups [3 L] milk
  • 2 1/4 cups [460 g] sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon [6 mL] salt
  • 25 to 30 tablespoons [375 to 450 mL] cornstarch
  • 15 tablespoons [225 mL] cold milk
  • Vanilla, to taste
  • Fruits, to decorate [optional]
  • Heat together 12 cups [3 L] milk, sugar and salt.
  • Dissolve cornstarch in cold milk.
  • Stir into heated milk.
  • Transfer to a double-boiler.
  • Cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  • Take away from heat before stirring in vanilla
  • Pour into individual small bowls [mixture thickens as it cools down].
  • Refrigerate until ready to serve, cold, decorated with fruit pieces if desired.
