- 1/4 cup [60 g] shortening
- 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] chopped celery
- 2 large cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] prepared mustard
- 1 can 48-ounce [1.4-L] cream of tomato soup
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] vinegar or lemon juice

- Into a large casserole, softened together chopped onion and celery with minced garlic in hot shortening.
- Mix in brown sugar, mustard, cream of tomato soup and vinegar or lemon juice.
- Leave to simmer, for approximately 10 minutes.
