- 1/4 cup [60 g] shortening
- 1 cup [250 mL] sliced onion
- 1 cup [250 mL] sliced sweet green pepper, membranes removed and seeded
- 1 [48-ounce / 1.4-L] can old- fashioned tomato rice soup
- 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups [310 to 375 mL] water
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] lemon juice

- Soften together onion and sweet gree pepper slices in hot shortening.
- Stir in old-fashioned tomato rice soup, water and lemon juice.
- Heat until hot.
