Creole Tomato Sauce

  • 1 cup [250 ml] sliced onion
  • 1 cup [250 ml] sliced green pepper
  • 1/4 cup [60 ml] shortening
  • 1 can [48 ounces / 1.4 L] old fashioned tomato rice soup
  • 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 cups [310 or 375 ml] water
  • 2 tablespoons [30 ml] lemon juice
  • Cook sliced onion and green pepper in shortening until soft.
  • Add, stirring, old fashioned tomato rice soup, water and lemon juice.
  • Heat.
