- 1/2 cup [115 g] shortening
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] peanut butter
- 1/2 cup [100 g] sugar
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] milk
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
- 1 3/4 cups [245 g] flour
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
- Sugar
- Star or kiss-shaped chocolates

- Preheat oven to 375°F [190°C].
- Cream together shortening and peanut butter.
- Mix in sugar and brown sugar.
- Break in egg and pour in milk and vanilla; beat well.
- Then fold in already mixed together flour, baking soda and salt.
- Shape dough, 1 teaspoonful [5 mL] at a time, into a balls.
- Roll balls into sugar, then arrange balls apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake cookies into preheated oven for 8 minutes; remove from oven.
- Top each cookies with a chocolate star, or kiss.
- Bake cookies for 2 to 5 minutes more.
- Leave cookies to cool completely.
