Decorating Icing
Comments: This icing, which gets really hard, is perfect to shape flowers, leaves, names.... that will keep their shape, and to decorate Easter Eggs, a little before wrapping.
If desired, color this icing to taste using food coloring.
  • 2 egg whites, at room temperature
  • 2 1/4 cups [560 mL] sifted icing sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] vanilla
  • Beat together all ingredients, until really stiff.
  • While decorating with icing, keep bowl covered with a damp cloth or waxed paper at all times to prevent a crust from forming on top of icing.
