Beer Boiled Ham

Comments: Vegetables, not really good to eat, give a good taste to the ham.
  • 1/4 to 1/2 ham [approximately 4 1/2 pounds - 2 kg]
  • Approximately 3 cups [750 mL] cold water, to completely cover the ham
  • 1 or 2 bottles or cans beer
  • Whole cloves or ground clove, to taste
  • Peppercorns, to taste
  • Dry mustard, to taste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Celery seeds, to taste
  • Whole peeled carrots, to taste
  • Whole peeled onions, to taste
  • Bring together all ingredients into a large casserole.
  • Leave ham to simmet slowly, half-covered for at least 2 hours, until tender to the fork.
  • Remove from casserole, slice and serve ham hot, or leave ham to cool completely into broth, refrigerate then enjoy ham cold.
