Boiled Ham [stove + microwave oven]

  • 1 [3-pound / 7.6-kg] boneless ham
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons [45 mL] Dijon mustard
  • Half ham lengthwise.
  • Transfer ham halves into a large pot; pour in enough water to cover.
  • Bring to a boil and leave to boil for 1 hour, replenishing water as needed.
  • Meanwhile, mix together brown sugar, soy sauce and Dijon mustard into a small bowl; reserve.
  • Transfer ham halves into a glass or ceramic baking dish, cut sides facing up.
  • Evenly brush ham halves with reserved brown sugar mixture.
  • Microwave ham halves on 'HIGH' for 15 minutes.
  • Slice, and serve.
