French Toasts
Comments: Excellent breakfast to share with friends.
Mix together all the ingredients, except bread slices, the night before; cook on the next morning.
Serve along with liquid honey, or syrup.

  • 1 French bread
  • 8 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups [500 mL] milk
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons [7.5 mL] cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon [0.5 mL] salt
  • Slice bread into 16 slices [do not keep ends].
  • Into a bowl, beat together beaten eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and salt until fluffy.
  • Arrange bread slices in 2 [13 x 9 x 2-inch / 33 x 23 x 5-cm] glass baking pans.
  • Evenly pour eggs mixture all over bread slices.
  • Turn over to coat bread slices with mixture on both sides.
  • Cover pans with al foil or plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
  • On the next morning, preheat oven to 450°F [230°C] and arrange bread slices onto a cookie sheet.
  • Bake into preheated oven for approximately 5 minutes, until browned on both sides, turning slices once while baking.
