Chewy Chocolate Chip Squares

  • 1 cup [225 g] butter
  • 1/2 cup [100 g] sugar
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
  • 1 1/4 cups [175 g] flour
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] quick cooking oats, uncooked
  • 1 [12-ounce / 340-g] package semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup [250 mL] chopped pecans
  • Cream butter gradually add sugars beating well at medium speed.
  • Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  • Combine flour and soda; add to creamed mixture and mix well.
  • Stir in oats, chips and pecans.
  • Spread mixture into a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch [33 x 23 x 5-cm] pan.
  • Bake at 375°F [190°C] for 25 minutes.
