Butter Cookies

Cookies
  • 8 ounces [227 g] powdered sugar
  • 1 pound [454 g] butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons [10 mL] baking soda
  • 5 cups [700 g] flour
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
Frosting
  • 8 ounces [227 g] powdered sugar
  • 1/4 pound [113 g] soft butter
  • 1 cup [250 mL] whipping cream
  • Few drops of food coloring [optional]
Cookies
  • Mix all ingredients; chill overnight.
  • On a floured board, roll out a small amount of dough; cut out.
  • Bake at 350°F [180°C] for 7 to 8 minutes.
Frosting
  • Blend together powdered sugar and butter.
  • Add cream and, if desired, food coloring.
