Chocolate Sheet Cake

  • 1 cup [250 mL] water
  • 1/2 cup [115 g] margarine, do not use butter
  • 1 1/2 [1-ounce / 28-g each] squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 cups [400 g] sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • 2 cups [280 g] flour
  • 1 [14 1/2-ounce / 411-g] can milk chocolate frosting
  • Combine water, margarine and chocolate in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in sugar, eggs, sour cream, baking soda and salt.
  • Slowly add flour; mix well.
  • Pour into greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch [39 x 26-cm] sheet cake pan.
  • Bake at 375°F [190°C] for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Frost.
