Heat Bar Cake

IngredientsPreparation
  • 2 cups [500 mL] brown sugar
  • 2 cups [280 g] sifted flour
  • 1/2 cup [115 g] butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup [250 mL] milk
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
Topping
  • 6 health bars
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] chopped pecans
  • 1 cup [250 mL] reserved mixture
  • Mix sugar and flour; cut in butter until mixture resembles cornmeal [use a pastry blender].
  • Measure out 1 cup [250 mL] of mixture and set aside.
  • To the remainder of the mixture add egg, milk, baking soda, salt and vanilla; beat well.
  • Pour into greased and floured pan.
  • Place topping health bars in freezer; when hard, break bars into small pieces.
  • Blend candy with chopped pecans and reserved mixture.
  • Pour on top of cake.
  • Bake at 350°F [180°C] until done.
