- 2 cups [500 mL] brown sugar
- 2 cups [280 g] sifted flour
- 1/2 cup [115 g] butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup [250 mL] milk
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking soda
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] vanilla
Topping
- 6 health bars
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] chopped pecans
- 1 cup [250 mL] reserved mixture

- Mix sugar and flour; cut in butter until mixture resembles cornmeal [use a pastry blender].
- Measure out 1 cup [250 mL] of mixture and set aside.
- To the remainder of the mixture add egg, milk, baking soda, salt and vanilla; beat well.
- Pour into greased and floured pan.
- Place topping health bars in freezer; when hard, break bars into small pieces.
- Blend candy with chopped pecans and reserved mixture.
- Pour on top of cake.
- Bake at 350°F [180°C] until done.
