Easy Cherry-Chocolate Cake

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 package super moist devils' food cake mix
  • 1 [21-ounce / 597-mL] can cherry pie filling, regular or lite
  • 1/3 cup [80 mL] vegetable oil
  • 1 small package chocolate instant pudding and pie filling mix
  • Whipped cream [canned]
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Heat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Grease and flour a 13 x 9-inch [33 x 23-cm] pyrex pan.
  • Beat eggs in a large bowl.
  • Stir in cake mix, pie filling and oil until blended.
  • Spread in pan.
  • Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely.
  • Prepare pie filling, as on box for pie.
  • Let stand about 5 minutes or until thickened.
  • Spread over cake.
  • Refrigerate, covered with plastic wrap.
  • Decorate with whipped cream and cherries or serve with a dab of whipped cream and a cherry on each piece.
