- 1 1/2 cups [375 ml] uncooked rice
- 8 tablespoons [120 ml] butter
- 3 cups [375 ml] beef consomme or chicken broth
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 ml] thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 ml] marjoram
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 ml] rosemary

- In a frypan, brown rice in melted butter.
- Pour rice into an oven-proof cassserole; mix in beef consomme or chicken broth, onion, thyme, marjoram and rosemary.
- Bake in a 350°F [180°C] oven, covered, for 30 minutes.
- Uncover, stir and bake for 30 minutes more, until liquid has been absorbed.
