- 1/2 cup [125 ml] butter
- 1/2 cup [125 ml] molasses
- 3\4 cup [190 ml] icing sugar
- 1 cup [250 ml] flour
- 1 tablespoon [15 ml] rum

- Heat butter and icing sugar until melted.
- Add molasses and rum, mix well; cool.
- Add flour; mix.
- Drop by 1/4 teaspoons [1 ml], 3 to 4 inches [8 to 10 cm] apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in a 375°F [190°C] oven for approximately 8 minutes, until golden brown all around.
- Cool for a few seconds.
- With a saptula, transfer cookies to a wire rack; cool.
