Surprise Apple Cake
Comments: After baking, fruits will be on the bottom of the frypan and dough will be on top, which will give a delicious really moist cake.
Serve as is, or along with ice cream.

  • 1/2 cup [115 g] butter or margarine x
  • 1 cup [200 g] sugar x
  • 1 cup [140 g] all-purpose flour x
  • 2 teaspoons [10 mL] baking powder x
  • 1 cup [250 mL] milk x
  • 2 cups [500 mL] freshly cooked peeled or canned apple pieces, drained x
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] cinnamon x
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] nutmeg

  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C]. x
  • Into a deep frypan or a deep cake pan, melt butter or margarine. x
  • Beat together sugar, flour, baking powder and milk. x
  • Pour dough all over melted butter or margarine. x
  • Into a clean bowl, mix together drained apple pieces, cinnamon and nutmeg. x
  • Evenly arrange apple pieces on top of dough. x
  • Bake into preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until dough completely covers apple pieces and is golden.
