- 4 teaspoons [20 g] flour
- 3 teaspoons [15 mL] oil
- 3/4 cup [190 mL] hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
- 2 egg yolks or 1 whole egg, beaten
- 2 cups [500 mL] oil
- 3 tablespoons [45 mL] vinegar or other acid liquid

- Heat together flour, 3 teaspoons [15 mL] oil and hot water for 5 minutes, stirring.
- Stir in paprika, mustard, pepper and egg yolks or whole egg.
- Alternately stir in remaining oil and vinegar or other acid liquid.
- Refrigerate.
