- 4 cups [1 L] milk
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] yellow cornflour
- 1/4 cup [60 g] sugar
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] ginger
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] molasses
- 2 tablespoons [30 g] butter

- Preheat oven to 300°F [150°C].
- Into the top part of a double boiler, bring 3 cups [750 mL] milk to a boil; remove from heat.
- Stirring at all times, stir in yellow cornflour, sugar, salt, cinnamon and ginger; set aside.
- Thoroughly beat together egg and molasses.
- Vigourously beat approximately 3 teaspoons [15 mL] hot mixture into well beaten egg/molasses mixture.
- Stir into cornflour mixture, into top part of double boiler.
- Cook, stirring over boiling water for approximately 10 minutes, until thickened.
- Beat in butter; pour into a well buttered oven-safe mold.
- Bake into preheated oven for approximately 2 hours, until golden.
