Spiced Nuts

Comments: Do not forget to double this recipe as these nuts are a nourishing snack and they disappear fast!
Servings: 6 cups [1.5 L]

  • 4 tablespoons [60 g] butter, or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons [30 g] sugar
  • 2 teaspoons [10 mL] garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] cinnamon
  • 2 cups [500 mL] unsalted dry roasted peanuts
  • 2 cups [500 mL] pecan halves
  • 1 cup [250 mL] Chinese rice noodles
  • 1 cup [250 mL] raisins
  • Spoon buter or margarine into a 12 x 8 x 2-inch [30 x 20 x 5-cm] glass baking dish.
  • Heat on 'HIGH' for approximately 45 seconds, until melted.
  • Stir in sugar, garlic salt and cinnamon.
  • Delicately toss in unsalted dry roasted peanuts, pecan halves and rice noodles until coated with melted fat.
  • Microwave on 'HIGH' for 7 to 8 minutes, stirring after 4 minutes.
  • Mix in raisins; microwave, still on 'HIGH', for 7 to 8 minutes, for 2 minutes.
  • Leave to cool completely, stirring often.
