- 3 ounces [85 g] butter
- 3 tablespoons [26.25 g] all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cup [310 mL] milk
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] drained chopped capers
- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Melt 2 tablespoons [30 g] of the butter into a covered, 5-cup [1.25-L] bowl, for 30 to 40 seconds on 'HIGH'.
- Whip in flour; then slowly pour in milk, whipping.
- Add bay leaf.
- Microwave for 3 to 4 minutes on 'HIGH', whipping mixture half-way through.
- Discard bay leaf; whip sauce.
- Whip in remaining butter, until really smooth.
- Delicately stir in capers.
- Microwave sauce for 3 minutes on 'HIGH'.
- Thorougly whip in salt and pepper, and serve.
