- 2 cups [400 g] sugar
- 2 cups [500 mL] brown sugar
- 1 [10 1/2-ounce / 300-mL] can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 2/3 ounces [75 mL] milk [1/4 can]

- Into a saucepan, mix together all ingredients until smooth.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Cook over medium heat until a soft ball forms into a glass filled with cold water.
- Do not mix while cooking.
- Or, microwave on 'HIGH' for 5 minutes.
- Open microwave oven door a few seconds; microwave for 2 minutes.
- Open microwave oven door for a few seconds; microwave for 3 minutes more, watching carefully so that preparation does not spill, opening the door for a few seconds whenever necessary.
- Transfer saucepan to a sink filled with enough cold water [up to at least 1/2 of saucepan]; mix until granules just start to form.
- Pour into a mold or onto a marble slab.
- Leave to cool completely before cutting.
