- 1/2 pound [227 g] chopped lard
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] liquid beef broth concentrate
- 1 [10-ounce / 284-mL] can beef consomme concentrate
- 1 tablespoon [7 g] unflavored gelatine

- Melt chopped lard into a medium-size casserole; lightly brown chopped onion into melted fat.
- Mix in liquid beef broth concentrate and beef consomme.
- Bring mixture to a boil; leave to boil for a few minutes.
- Pressing, strain mixture into a bowl.
- Sprinkle liquid with unflavored gelatine; stir until completely melted.
- Pour mixture into small bowl; leave to cool completely.
- Refrigerate until set.
