Aunt Anne-Marie's Pork Drippings

Comments: Do not salt this mixture.
  • 1/3 cup [75 g] shortening
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 6 teaspoons [30 mL] liquid [or 6 cubes] beef broth concentrate
  • 2 cups [500 mL] water
  • 2 [1 tablespoon - 7 g] each packs unflavored gelatine
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Melt shortening into a medium-size casserole; lightly brown chopped onion.
  • Dilute or dissolve beef broth concentrate in water; pour into casserole.
  • Pepper, heat until hot then sprinkle unfalvored gelatine all over hot liquid.
  • Stir until completely dissolved.
  • Pour mixture into small bowls.
  • Refrigerate until set before serving, cold.
