Pauline's Cake Frosting

  • 1 cup [200 g] sugar
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] water
  • Cream of tartar [as big as a pea]
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup [60 g] shortening
  • Any flavoring, to taste
  • Icing sugar
  • Boil together sugar, water and cream of tartar until mixture shapes into a thread when slowly falling from a spoon.
  • Beat eggs until firm.
  • Beating, slowly pour sugar mixture into beaten eggs.
  • Beat until cold.
  • Cream shortening before mixing it, along with favoring, into frist mixture.
  • Using icing sugar, thicken frosting to taste.
