Beggar's Pudding

  • 3 cups [420 g] flour
  • 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 3 tablespoons [45 g] butter
  • 2 cups [500 mL] milk
Syrup
  • 1 pound [454 g] brown sugar
  • 2 cups [500 mL] water
  • 3 tablespoons [45 g] butter, melted
  • Preheat oven to 300°F [150°C].
  • Into a bowl mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Cut butter into mixture before pouring in milk.
  • Pour dough a buttered pudding mold.
  • Mix togehter all syrup ingredients [brown sugar, water and melted butter]; pour syrup all over dough.
  • Bake pudding into preheated oven, for 50 to 55 minutes.
