- 1 1/3 cups [185 g] flour
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 eggs
- 2/3 cup [130 g] sugar
- 6 tablespoons [90 mL] water
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] maple extract

- Preheat oven to 325°F [160°C].
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside.
- Beat eggs until foamy.
- Then slowly beat in sugar, water and maple extract, until mixture shapes into a thread when lifting beaters.
- Fold mixture into reserved flour mixture.
- Pour dough into a greased and floured square 9-inch [23-cm] cake pan.
- Bake into preheated oven, for 25 minutes.
- Leave to cool slightly in pan over a wire rack, before unmolding cake onto wire rack.
- Leave to cool completely.
