- 1 1/2 cups [375 mL] bran flakes cereals
- 2/3 cup [160 mL] milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup [60 g] margarine or shortening, softened
- 1 cup [140 g] flour, sifted
- 2 1/2 teaspoons [12.5 mL] baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
- 1/4 cup [60 g] sugar

- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Into a large bowl, mix together cereals and milk.
- Set aside until milk is almost completely absorbed.
- Add egg and softened margarine or shortening; beat well.
- Sift together sifted flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
- Add dry ingredients to cereals mixture; stir just enough to wet dry ingredients.
- Fill 12 muffin tins up to 2/3rds with dough.
- Bake muffins into preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown.
