- 1 cup [225 g] butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] brown sugar
- 1/2 cup [100 g] sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups [280 g] flour
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] vanilla

- Cream butter or margarine.
- Beat in brown sugar, sugar, egg and vanilla.
- Mix together flour and baking soda; well mix into first mixture.
- Shape dough into a roll and wrap dough into waxed paper; refrigerate for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
- Thinly slice cold dough; arrange onto a cookie sheet.
- Lightly brown cookies into preheated oven, for 5 to 6 minutes.
- Leave cookies to cool slightly before transferring them onto wire racks.
- Leave to cool completely.
