- 2 1/2 cups [500 g] sugar
- 1/4 cup [60 g] butter or margarine
- 3/4 cup [190 mL] evaporated milk
- 3/4 cup [190 mL] marshmallow paste
- 3/4 teaspoon [3.75 mL] salt
- 3/4 teaspoon [3.75 mL] vanilla

- Into a casserole, mix together sugar, butter or margarine, evaporate milk, marshmallow paste and salt.
- Using a beater, beat together all ingredients.
- Stirring, bring mixture to a boil over medium heat; leave to simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat, mix in vanilla, then pour mixture into a 9-inch [23-cm] square mold.
- Leave to cool, then refrigerate mixture until hardened.
- Serve, cut into squares.
