Apple Crisp

  • 1/3 cup [75 g] sugar
  • 2 tablespoons [17.5 g] flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon [15 g] butter or margarine
  • 4 cups [1 L] apple slices*
  • 2 tablespoons [30 mL] lemon juice
Topping
  • 3/4 cup [190 mL] brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup [105 g] flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • 1/3 cup [75 g] butter or margarine, melted
  • 3/4 cup [190 mL] chopped nuts
  • Preheat oven to 350°F [180°C].
  • Mix together all topping ingredients [brown sugar, flour, salt, butter or margarine and chopped nuts]; reserve.
  • Into a clean bowl, well mix together sugar, flour, cinnamon and melted butter or margarine.
  • Butter a 6-cup [1.5 L] baking dish.
  • *Peel, core, slice then sprinkle apple slices with lemon juice.
  • Delicately mix apple slices into flour mixture, until well coated.
  • Evenly arrange apple slices into prepared baking dish.
  • Evenly sprinkle apple slices with reserved topping.
  • Brown into preheated oven, for approximately 30 minutes.
