Tiny Ground Beef or Lamb Meatballs for Toddlers

Comments: As soon as 8 month old, toddlers can eat some meat loaf pieces, tiny meatballs or meat patties with their fingers.
For older children, these meatballs are delicious served along with a vegetables salad, or served into a pita bread or a small soft roll.
IngredientsPreparation
  • 17 1/2 ounces [500 g] lean ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 cup [250 mL] freshly made breadcrumbs
  • 2 teaspoons [10 mL] oil
  • Flour
  • Tomato sauce [optional]
  • Plain yogurt [optional]
  • Mashed potatoes [optional]
  • Sour cream [optional]
  • Into a bowl, well mix together ground beef or lamb, chopped onion, egg yolk and freshly made breadcrumbs.
  • Shape mixture into approximately 20 tiny meatballs; ligthtly flour meatballs.
  • Heat oil into a non-stick frpan over medium heat.
  • Brown meatballs into hot oil for approximately 15 minutes, until no longer pink inside.
  • Drain meatballs.
  • For 8 to 9 month old babies, these delicious meatballs are perfect to eat with their fingers, tomato sauce or plain yogurt on the side to dip in.
  • Another delicious dip would be mashed potatoes, mashed along with sour cream or plain yogurt.
