Oatmeal for Babies
Comments: Why pay more than $1.00 for 1/2 pound [227 g] baby cereals when you can prepare you baby's oatmeal for a few pennies per serving?
This oatmeal resembles baby cereals, but really is cheaper.
  • 1 cup [250 mL] water
  • 1/4 cup / 4 tablespoons [60 mL] regular oatmeal [not fast cooking]
  • Bring water to a boil into a saucepan.
  • Meanwhile, into a blender, process oatmeal into a powder.
  • Mix oatmeal powder into boiling water.
  • Immediately lower heat to low and cook mixture for 10 minutes whipping using a whip or a fork, to prevent lumps and prevent oatmeal mixture from sticking to the bottom of the saucepan.
  • Leave to cool completely before feeding baby.
