- 2 pounds [900 g] ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] chopped parsley
- 2 carrots, peeled then grated
- 3/4 teaspoon [3.75 mL] salt
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] ketchup
- Any desired barbecue sauce, to taste

- Prepare a charcoal fire on the spot provided on your site; preheat until hot.
- Into a bowl, well mix together ground beef, chopped onion and parsley, grated carrots, salt, pepper, breadcrumbs, eggs and ketchup.
- Shape mixture into 6 patties.
- Arrange each patty onto 2 sheets heavy aluminum foil large enough to wrap each patty.
- Seal then transfer onto preheated rack over hot embers.
- Cook meat loaves for 45 to 60 minutes, until ground beef is well-done.
- Delicately remove meat loaves from wrappings and arrange directly onto hot rack.
- Using a brush, generously coat meat loaves with barbecue sauce.
- Cook for 5 minutes more.
- Turn then brush meat loaves once more with barbecue sauce.
- Cook for 5 minutes more.
