Tony Roma'sŪ Blue Ridge Smokies Sauce

Servings: 1 1/2 cups [375 mL]

  • 1 cup [250 mL] ketchup
  • 1 cup [250 mL] red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup [125 mL] brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] molasses
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons [7.5 mL] liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
  • Rounded 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] onion powder
  • Over high heat, combine all the ingredients into a medium saucepan.
  • Whisk until smooth.
  • Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat.
  • Leave sauce to simmer uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, until thickened.
