- 1 cup [250 mL] ketchup
- 1 cup [250 mL] red wine vinegar
- 1/2 cup [125 mL] brown sugar
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] molasses
- 1 1/2 teaspoons [7.5 mL] liquid smoke
- 1/2 teaspoon [2.5 mL] salt
- Rounded 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] onion powder

- Over high heat, combine all the ingredients into a medium saucepan.
- Whisk until smooth.
- Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat.
- Leave sauce to simmer uncovered for 30 to 40 minutes, until thickened.
