- 2 pounds [900 g] stew meat, into 1-inch [2.5-cm] cubes
- 3 peeled potatoes, diced
- 3 peeled carrots, sliced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 [14 1/2-ounce / 412-mL each] cans whole tomatoes
- 4 tablespoons [60 mL] quick-cooking tapioca
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt and pepper, to taste

- Trim all fat from meat cubes.
- Transfer all ingredients into a crock pot; mix thoroughly.
- Cover and cook on low, for 8 to 10 hours.
