No-Bake Brownies
Comments: Keep these brownies at room temperature, lightly covered.

  • 1 cup [250 mL] finely chopped nuts
  • 2 [1-ounce / 28-g each] squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 [10 1/2-ounce / 300-mL] can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 to 2 1/2 cups [500 to 625 mL] vanilla wafer crumbs [approximately 48 to 60 wafers]
  • Sprinkle the bottom of a square 9-inch [23-cm] cake pan with 1/4 cup [60 mL] of chopped nuts.
  • Into a casserole, melt chocolate squares into sweetened condensed milk, over low heat.
  • Stirring, cook mixture until thick, for approximately 10 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in vanilla wafer crumbs and 1/2 cup [125 mL] of remaining chopped nuts.
  • Evenly spread mixture into prepared pan.
  • Evenly sprinkle mixture with remaining chopped nuts.
  • Refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm, before cutting mixture into 24 brownies.
