Goulasch with Egg Pasta Noodles
Comments: Hungarian-style beef casserole.

  • 2 pounds [1 kg] ground beef
  • 1 cup [250 mL] chopped onion
  • 2 [10 1/4-ounce / 290-mL each] cans beef sauce
  • 2 [796-mL / 28-ounce each] cans tomatoes, chopped with juice
  • 2 cups [500 mL] water
  • 1/4 cup [60 mL] Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 [10-ounce / 284-g] pack frozen string beans
  • 1 [10-ounce / 284-g] pack frozen carrots
  • 1 [8-ounce / 227-g] bag medium egg noodles
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Into a casserole, brown together ground beef, and chopped onion until soft.
  • Drain excess liquid.
  • Mix in beef sauce, chopped tomatoes with juice, water and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Bring to a boil; mix in frozen string beans, frozen carrots and uncooked egg noodles.
  • Bring once more to a boil.
  • Cover and simmer for 8 minutes, to soften vegetables, and noodles.
  • Salt, pepper and serve.
