- 1 pound [454 g] ground beef
- 1 cup [250 mL] finely chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] milk
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] salt
- 1/4 teaspoon [1 mL] pepper
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] cooking oil
- 2 [8-ounce / 227-mL each] cans tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup [60 mL] brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons [30 mL] vinegar
- 1 teaspoon [5 mL] m.s.g. [optional]

- Mix together ground beef, finely chopped onion, egg, milk, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.
- Shape mixture into 12 small balls.
- Into a frypan, brown balls into really hot cooking oil; throw away excess fat from frypan.
- Mix together tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar and, if desired, m.s.g.; pour all over meatballs, into frypan.
- Simmer over low heat for 10 to 15 minutes turning often to glaze meatballs, before serving.
